Our Past Tours

China September 2006 - September we departed Ballina for a 15 day discovery of the main city sites of China as well as a cruise down the Yangtze river.
We explored the city sites of Shanghai, including a ride on the Maglev train at 410km per hour, as well as a day excursion to the nearby river town of Xitang Village.
We then had the relaxation of our cruise through the gorges of the Yangtze River and an excellent insight into the pro’s and con’s of the Yangtze Dam. We then flew to Xian to enjoy this lovely city, had a bike ride on it’s surrounding wall and of course a visit to the Terracotta warriors.
Our final destination Beijing was without doubt the highlight, I don’t think many moments match the first time standing on the Great Wall of China, there is definitely something special about it.
So many famous sites in Beijing, I think my favourite is the Temple of Heaven, an amazing piece of Chinese architecture but what I enjoy the most, is the surrounding park with it’s thousands of species of trees and almost as many local residents practicing dancing, singing, martial arts and many other activities.
I have a special show my groups enjoy in Beijing and everyone agreed apart from everything else we’d seen it was worth being on the tour just to see that show.
Our tour also enjoyed the best and most traditional restaurant for our Peking Duck dinner, there are many options in Beijing for this meal and many of them can be disappointing, so we stay with the best.
There is so much to discover in China, from the attractions, the food, shopping and the people just to name a few, a truly fascinating destination. |
